By Lisa Talmadge
Hixson, TN – April 26, 2008. Fishing out of a Black Gold compliant Triton Boat with a Mercury Outboard and MotorGuide Trolling Motor bought from Cleveland Boat Center in Cleveland, TN. Rogne Brown of Kimbell, TN had an impressive limit that weighed 21.80 pounds to take the victory in the second tournament in the Tennessee East Division on Chickamauga Lake.
Rogne Brown’s extensive local knowledge was key to his success. Brown targeted offshore structure from 10 – 20 feet deep. His two main lures were big crankbaits and spinnerbaits that he used to seine the offshore structure for a 20 pound limit by noon. The afternoon was slower but he managed to upgrade using the same techniques. Brown would like to thank Triton Boats and Stealth Charging Systems.
For his efforts Brown earned a total of $10,000, $5,000 for first place and $5,000 for being Triton Black Gold. He was followed by Steve Kite of Hixson, TN with 18.05 pounds, Brandon Roop of Dayton, TN with 17.72 pounds, Ronald Taylor of Harriman, TN with 17.19 pounds, and Anthony Revis of Dayton, TN with 16.60 pounds and had big bass on the boater side that weighed 5.95 pounds.
