Boss Dominates Divisional Championship on Barkley

Kuttawa, KY...August 22-23, 2009...Sam Boss of Paducah, KY is one step closer to the Bassmaster Classic with his first place victory in the Kentucky division earning $5,000 in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series bass tournament held on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. Boss` two day combined weight was 41.41 pounds.
Boss dominated the tournament from start to finish. His two day total weight was more than 16 pounds higher than the next competitor. The winner remarked on stage that his pattern consisted of slow rolling a big spinnerbait over rocks in deep water. His victory catapulted him to the overall points leader for the Kentucky division and also earned him an automatic berth to the National Championship November 1-7, 2009 to be held on Lake Dardanelle.
Boaters brought 206 fish to the scales with a total weight of 580.12 pounds: second – Larry Landrum of Hopkinsville, KY with 25.15; third – Jason Sain of Hurricane Mills, TN with 24.15; fourth – Jody Richey of White Plains, KY with 23.96; and fifth – Kasey Alexander of Dawson Springs, KY with 22.77. Boater overall big bass award went to Steve Pyle of Pembroke, KY for catching a 7.13 pound largemouth.
The co-anglers brought 111 fish to the scales with a total weight of 315.29 pounds. Michael Luce of Ledbetter, KY took first on the co-angler side with a two day total weight of 20.01 pounds. Remaining top five co-anglers were: second – Brendan Murphy of Cape Girardeau, MO with 19.05; third – Barry Emerson of Lebanon Junction, KY with 13.71; fourth – John Juergens of Bourbonnais, IL with 13.59; and fifth Malvin Steger of Altenburg, MO with 12.82. Co-angler overall big bass award went to John Juergens for catching a 6.16 pound largemouth.
Jayme Grundy of Greenville, KY ended the regular season as the co-angler points leader which earned him an automatic berth into the National Championship.
This event concludes the 2009 regular season for the Kentucky, Division 15 anglers. The top 40 anglers in accumulated points from both fields will now advance to the Regional held on Old Hickory Lake, Launching from Saunders Ferry Park in Hendersonville, TN on October 9-10, 2009.
