Brown Wins $10,000 on Chickamauga

Dayton, TN...June 13, 2009...Rogie Brown of Hixson, TN is one step closer to the Bassmaster Classic with his first place victory in the Tennessee East division earning $5,000 in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series bass tournament held on Chickamauga Lake. He also collected the Triton Black Gold bonus money worth $5000. Rogie`s five bass limit weighed in at 22.66 pounds.
Brown started his tournament day fishing between 8 and 12 ft deep with good success. By 9:00 am, the Hixson, TN angler had a limit in his livewell estimated at 21.50 pounds. Rotating through approximately ten fishing spots, Brown didn`t catch another keeper until 1:30 pm. With two hours left to fish, he located a giant school of bass in the 20 – 25 ft depth. He hammered through the school of bass using a swimbait amongst other things with his new 7` 6” Heavy Swimbait/Frog Rod from Nuclear Rods to cull up three times and achieve his winning weight. Boaters brought 248 fish to the scales with a total weight of 635.67 pounds: second – Heath Pack of Mineral Bluff, GA with 18.89; third – Eric Peeler of Calhoun, GA with 17.44; fourth – Josh Wofford of Ooltewah, TN with 16.80; and fifth – Mark Mauldin of Knoxville, TN with 16.75. Boater big bass award went to Heath Pack for catching a 5.82 pound largemouth.
The co-anglers brought 137 fish to the scales with a total weight of 328.35 pounds. Creed Eldridge of Harrogate, TN took first on the co-angler side with a total weight of 11.62 pounds. Remaining top five co-anglers were: second – Stan Bishop of Rockwood, TN with 10.10; third – William Kendrick of Chatsworth, GA with 9.87; fourth – Barry Wingo of Hixson, TN with 8.98; and fifth Richie Crass of Harriman, TN with 8.48. Co-angler big bass award went to Adam Thornton of Cohutta, GA for catching a 5.00 pound largemouth.
The final tournament for Division 04 – Tennessee East will be held August 29-30, 2009 on Watts Bar launching from Tom Fuller Park.
