Welcome to the historical community of Charles County, Maryland! Whether you've crossed states or just suburban boundaries, Charles County, has been the hidden gem of Southern Maryland for 350 years. Once visitors begin turning the uncovered stones, they discover a rich abundance of history, culture, outdoor activities and fabulous seafood!

The top 40 boaters and co-anglers from the Northeast region of American Bass Anglers will ascend on Charles County for the 2009 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series Northeast Regional Championship, October 12th- 17th, 2009. This regional consists of Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, North Carolina, New York West, and New York East.

In recent decades, the water quality of the lower Potomac River has improved to create one of the best largemouth fisheries in the nation. Bass in the 3- to 4-pound range are common. The river system is full of grass, rocks, wood and docks, and anglers should be able to use a variety of techniques to catch solid limits. Anglers will likely fish from Washington, D.C., downstream to where the river empties into the Chesapeake Bay.

Anglers and co-anglers official practice days will begin at safelight Monday, October 12th and conclude Thursday, October 15th at 3:00pm. Tournament days begin at safelight Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th , 2009, with weigh-in at 3:00pm both days. Location for blast-off and weigh-in will be at the Smallwood State Park. The residents of Charles County are invited to come out and watch the excitement as anglers anxiously await their final placement and the opportunity to advance to the National Championship.

Whether you come to live, work, or play in the Nation’s backyard, Charles County has something for everyone. Their residents are looking forward to welcoming the anglers of the Northeast Regional Championship!

Sponsors of the Bassmaster Weekend Series include: Triton Boats, Toyota Tundra Trucks, Mercury Motors, Royal Purple Synthetic Motor Oil, Early Times Kentucky Whisky, Hi-Seas Fishing Line, ProBass Networks, and Rejuvenade.
